It was a chilly windy day, misting rain when we stood together on Omaha Beach. All I could think of was the boys (and they were boys) who bravely charged the beach dying by the thousands to liberate Europe from the Nazis. The beach was wide and open to enemy fire.

Our trip to Normandy was so moving. It’s one thing to read about history, or watch a movie. Living it, experiencing it, breathing it in is different.

Missing the beautiful Christmas markets of Vienna. Each market has a signature mug that your drink is served when. When you buy a hot drink, you pay a “deposit” and get a partial refund if you return the mug after you finish the drink. In my opinion, this is one of the cheapest (and really fun) souvenirs you can buy. I came home with half a dozen and filled them with some of that amazing chocolate I smuggled home.

Vienna has to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world when decorated for Christmas. The red bow is of course a really famous destination for photos. I was able to hop out in a break in traffic and grab a few great ones. Growing up my dad always told me to go play in traffic…so I did.

I’ve never been to a European Christmas market. It’s always been a bucket list adventure. I decided to go to Vienna and it was simply incredible. I loved everything, the food, the hot apple boozy punch, the crafts, the sights, the company.

I came home with massive amounts of chocolate, too many mugs, and everyone if getting presents from the markets this year for Christmas.
